Here's a Change That I'm Willing to Embrace

I was reading recently about the decision by the Union county government in Georgia to allow the KKK to adopt a highway. It seemed rather odd that such a group would want to be active in their community in support of making it a better cleaner place. What I have always been taught is that the group is a hate organization that believes in white power and to hell with everyone else. In researching their history though, I have come to find that I have been partially duped the same way Palestinians have been duped into believing that America is the “Great Satan.” Researching a little bit about Nathan Bedford Forrest has changed my view considerably about the man.  Yes the KKK has an ugly history, just like the Nazi’s, that makes historians only want to paint them as pure evil, and nothing more.

Enough with the Mythical Wage Gap

With the economy only doing moderately better, yet still in a state of recovery, we have to deal with BS legislation like the Paycheck (Un)fairness Act, which on the surface seem legitimate, but in practice is fundamentally a bad idea.

Not What is Said but What is Done

Too often I hear people say one thing and do another, and sometimes what they say in an effort to explain what they are doing, is about as logical as banging your head with a hammer to cure a headache.  For example, putting an animal down that is a little too wild, for the safety of everyone in the neighborhood, despite the fact that the animal is caged, can receive training, or have any other protective measure taken to prevent a deadly encounter with little Susie across the street from happening. Still, the reasoning is that it could happen, given an infinite number of universes with an infinite number of possibilities, somewhere in at least one of the universes, the animal attacks someone in the neighborhood, so therefore we must take preemptive action and put the creature down. Good thing we don't apply this logic to people because I'm pretty sure the purging operation that would ensue would be an E.L.E.

How About a Little Appreciation

Gratitude is a wonderful thing and I feel that it is often a component that is missing or not strongly encouraged in our everyday lives. As a member of the US Air Force, the core values make excellence and service part of every Airman’s job, and because of this we often lose sight of the fact that there are still those who go above and beyond the call of duty, and when they do they deserve praise to further encourage the pursuit of excellence and service, rather than just have it expected and instead reprimanding when they fail to do so because it’s part of the job to do so. Awards and medals are a great military tradition, to show appreciation for all those who strive for excellence and service through hard work and sacrifice (as well as sometimes helping promotions). Distributions of medals and awards are limited however, and often there are those who may not receive either but still have done an excellent job that exceeds even lofty expectations.
